Important information
Philip Raskin was born in 1947 and studied at the Glasgow School of Art. He then managed a renowned venue in Glasgow, celebrated for quality music, food and a full programme of art exhibitions. After 20 years of success, Raskin moved to a quiet life as a full-time seascape artist.
Over time, he developed a painterly impasto style performed in a soft palette of acrylics. The sheer quality of his dramatic skies are balanced the calm and heavy body of the water depicted. In his work, Raskin captures the beauty of the coastline of Scotland in a unique distinctive style. His sceneries are intimate to the viewer, the driftwood of an ebb tide, the mist tumbling on a distant hilltop and the silence broken only by lapping water and gulls ascending.
He has a loyal following of collectors both in the UK and abroad.
